My first official post

Salaam, graffiti tag - MAC815

First let me say hello to anyone visiting this blog, I'm very gracious for your time, and I hope that you enjoy looking through my blog. My name is Salaam and I am a Leeds based artist, and I am also currently establishing myself as a self-representing graffiti artist. I graduated this year from the University of Huddersfield with a First Class Honours degree in Business Management (BA). My current goal is to harness the skills and knowledge that I attained within my degree and combine this with my life long passion for art to establish my own small business in which I intend to produce and sell my own art work. I intend to produce a range of varying designs on canvas, that I will then be selling to anyone interested in my work. Each design will be a limited edition and there will only be a certain number of each design produced, such as 20 canvases. Each canvas will be designed, then hand painted, signed and numbered by myself.

I will be producing the pieces on high quality medium grain stretched canvases, which are individually hand made using an 11oz 100% cotton duck canvas which is then triple coated with a high pigmented acrylic primer. This makes the canvas ideal for use with acrylics. The canvases are 18mm deep and the edges are clean wrapped and free from staples or tacks, and are also ready to hang or frame. My medium of choice when producing the pieces will be Montana Gold 400ml acrylic spray paint cans, as seen in these images.

To give you an idea of that kind of work I produce, here are a number of images of the last graffiti project I completed. I was commissioned to do this piece in the master bedroom of a customers house.

He was interested in Japanese animation and Manga therefore we collectively choice to do a piece based on the well known Afro Samurai character, and the Samurai Champloo animated series (as seen in the picture at the beginning of this post). (All rights reserved by the respective owners of both the Afro Samurai character and the Samurai Champloo animated series, I own nothing in regards to these two franchises).

Well I will close this initial blog by saying thank you for your time if you read all that I wrote and looked at the images of my work that I posted, I truly do appreciate it and hope you continue to follow my work on this blog. I will update on a daily basis with info on new pieces, with images of the new pieces currently being developed, as well general ideas/themes for future work and drawings of the initial ideas for the future designs.

Hope to see you back here again soon.
